Introducing Cryoneurolysis at GC Rehab

Last month, GC Rehab successfully performed its first cryoneurolysis procedure, becoming one of the early adopters of this technique in Australia.

Cryoneurolysis is a minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided procedure that applies controlled cold therapy to targeted peripheral nerves. This temporarily disrupts nerve signalling, helping reduce pain and muscle overactivity such as spasticity.

The procedure was performed safely in a controlled setting, and early outcomes have been encouraging. As with all new techniques, careful patient selection and ongoing monitoring remain key as we continue to build our experience.

This milestone reflects our commitment to bringing innovative, evidence-informed treatments to the Gold Coast. We look forward to integrating cryoneurolysis into our broader neurorehabilitation approach, alongside diagnostic nerve blocks, botulinum toxin injections, and therapy.

Referrals and enquiries are welcome.

Dr Jom Jiao completes advanced cryoneurolysis training in Canada

We’re excited to share that Dr Jom Jiao has recently returned from Canada after attending an advanced workshop on cryoneurolysis for spasticity management, led by international expert Dr Paul Winston. This innovative, ultrasound-guided procedure targets overactive nerves to help reduce muscle stiffness and improve movement in selected patients.

Dr Jiao’s training with Dr Winston—one of the pioneers of cryoneurolysis in neurorehabilitation—further strengthens GC Rehab’s commitment to providing the latest evidence-based treatments in spasticity care. Cryoneurolysis will soon be available as an additional treatment option for suitable patients at GC Rehab.

For more information, send us an email at info@gcrehab.com.au or call (07) 5690 1727.

Dr Jom Jiao attends Global Ixcellence Clinical Expert Forum in MunichJune 14–16, 2025 – Munich, Germany

Dr Jiao recently returned from the Global Ixcellence Clinical Network Expert Training Forum 2025, held in Munich, Germany — a prestigious international event focused on advanced clinical use of botulinum toxin therapy for conditions such as spasticity and cervical dystonia.

The forum brought together leading clinicians from around the world to share the latest in evidence-based practice, innovative techniques, and patient-centred approaches to care.

Dr Jiao’s attendance reflects GC Rehab’s commitment to staying at the forefront of neurorehabilitation, ensuring our patients receive the most up-to-date and effective treatments available.

We look forward to applying these insights here on the Gold Coast — further enhancing our approach to spasticity management, cervical dystonia care, and ultrasound-guided injection therapies.
